Laurie Marchesani is in Pennsylvania at the 2009 Summer Leadership Conference and she has asked that I relay the following message to the Board, the Superintendent and the community.

This week, the District has been conducting training and orientation for New Teachers. The ETA has been invited by the District to participate and contribute to this very important start in a new teacher's career. Wendi Walton, is the ETA's New and Non-Tenured Teacher Coordinator. We would like to thank her and those District employees and Board Members who were able to attend the luncheon provided after the ETA presentation this morning.

The launch date of our website is still a few weeks away, but we are confident that there will soon be a place on the internet which will highlight the achievements of ETA members and provide information and communication to the public as well.

This Saturday, August 22nd, the Chemung County Fairgrounds will once again be hosting "Strong Kids, Safe Kids". Lisa Phillips, a health teacher at EFA, is in charge of coordinating the ETA's contribution to this very worthy cause. The ETA has a proud tradition of support for this event and in the past five years, has donated thousands of dollars worth of school supplies and several hours of time to children in the Elmira area. It is our expectation that this year, the ETA will be donating over $3,000 toward this event.

We are gearing up for another school year and many teachers have already been in their rooms, planning and preparing for what we all hope will be, the most successful year ever.
